I love December and its natural invitation to slow down.
If you’ve known me a little bit, you can probably guess that this hasn’t always been the case.
For many years, I resisted winter. In fact, the first three years of my business, I didn’t plan for any breaks during the holidays, except the 25th and 1st of January, and I was frustrated that my students would go away and not be able to take lessons.
To me, it was some sort of “forced holiday” that would mostly bring financial worry.
I’m gently smiling at my younger self as I’m telling you this today.
I’m a Generator after all (Human Design system), so working at developing my heart-centered French teaching business was absolutely a passion project that made me feel achieved, aligned and excited.
But like most Generators, I’d also been conditioned to believe that only my hard work would pay off and bring me success.
I thought that if I had the energy, then it was my moral obligation to myself to do *more*.
Resting was not an option.
In fact, I was so disconnected from my body that I didn’t feel tired until I was exhausted. Which is why I spent most of my Sundays in bed with a stiff back and a migraine…
Now, sending compassion to that earlier version of myself, I’m glad to tell you that things have drastically changed, and my “to do” lists have since transformed into “to feel” lists and “to be” lists and “not to do” lists.
Listen to a short audio on “Not to Do” lists
I’m glad to report that one of my goals this month was to plan three weeks off, and I've had incredible success in clearing my schedule of any must, should or people-pleasing events.
I'm looking forward to this time to reconnect with loved ones in person or online, and to reconnect to myself, during my lovely reading and journaling evenings, together with soft blankets and warm drinks.
A new tradition that I started in 2020 additionally to taking this time to restore, is to also use it as a journaling retreat.
I set some time apart (5-6 evenings feels good to me), I introspect and look over the year that is coming to an end as well as what I wish to experience and invite in the new year.
It’s helped me…
Ditch the "this year is gonna be my year". Really, every year is your year. Life happens for you, remember?
Embrace that life is made of ups and downs, and that the goal is perhaps to attempt to keep in balance despite the circumstances of the world.
Plan for an aligned growth or development of my business, in accordance with my vision for my life rather than with what Coach Suzie on Instagram says I should do.
Does that resonate?
If yes, you're going to love my gift for you:
The Celebrate, Plan and Manifest 2023 Journal
Last year, many of you told me how they really enjoyed the journal, which made me instantly know that I had to repeat the experience with different prompts but a similar invitation:
Stop of a moment and go over your year so you can finally see the wonderful progress you’ve made, the realizations you’ve had, the people who supported you and the lessons learned.
From that clarity, you can project onto 2023 your goals and intentions, and embody that slightly future version of yourself.
